SANTA CRISTINA
Ben ritrovati a tutti; anche quest’anno vi porto il saluto da
parte del Comitato Festa Santa Cristina.
Un saluto di ringraziamento per la fiducia che ci avete dato
lo scorso anno e per quella che riponete in noi per quello
che ci apprestiamo a fare nell’anno che verrà.
Come sempre gli eventi civili ruotano intorno alle quattro
festività religiose in onore della nostra Patrona.
Le festività di gennaio hanno seguito il loro tradizionale per-
corso. La sera dell’ 8 Gennaio la Crianzola, organizzata dal
Comune, ci ha fatto ritrovare ancora una volta tutti insieme
seduti allo stesso tavolo a scherzare, discutere, scambiare
opinioni e idee per accompagnarci alla serata del 9. Il suono
melodioso delle campane, protrattosi per tutta la notte, e
la maestria dei nostri suonatori suscitano da sempre emo-
zioni nel nostro animo ben difficili da descrivere. Sempre
numerosa, viva e a tratti accesa la partecipazione. Da di-
versi anni ormai sempre più giovani partecipano alle suo-
nate della notte. A questi giovani va il mio incoraggiamento
e l’esortazione a coltivare questa passione.
La prima domenica di maggio si è svolta la consueta pro-
cessione con la statua e la reliquia della Patrona accompa-
gnata, nel suo cammino tra i vicoli del paese, dai busti dei
Santi conservati nella cappella Carafa.

hanno arricchito e abbellito il nostro centro storico. Una
piccola novità l’abbiamo inserita nella giornata del 22 con
“la serata dei giochi per i bambini”, con i gonfiabili in piazza
N. Prisco messi a disposizione per la gioia e la felicità dei
più piccoli. Contemporaneamente è stata inaugurata la mo-
stra sul “Giornale di Santa Cristina”, con il lancio di tutti i
giornali storici sul sito www.comitatosantacristinasepino.it
. La stessa si è protratta per tutta la settimana della festa.
Invito tutti coloro che non l’abbiano ancora fatto, anche se
il numero di visite è stato ed è ancora altissimo, a ripercor-
rere la storia del nostro paese attraverso la lettura on-line.
Alle persone che hanno permesso tutto questo va il mio
grazie. Le giornate del 23 e 24 luglio sono state arricchite
dalla musica dei due complessi bandistici “Città di Ailano”
e “Città di Francavilla Fontana” per arrivare in serata ai fuo-
chi pirotecnici di piazza. Il 25 mattina ci siamo ritrovati in
chiesa per celebrare la messa con gli emigrati al termine
della quale ci siamo trasferiti alle Tre Fontane per il con-
sueto “Pranzo dell’Emigrante”. Sempre vivo e forte è l’af-
fetto e il sentimento che ci lega ai nostri cari, familiari e
conoscenti, emigrati in Italia e all’estero. Un piacere ed un
onore accoglierli ogni anno nel loro paese d’origine. La se-

FESTIVAL’S COMMITTEE
Welcome back to everyone; once again this year I bring
greetings from the Saint Christine ‘s Committee.
A greeting to thank you for having trusted in us during
the last year as well as for all the confidence you continue
to have in what we are going to do for the coming year.
As always the communal events are focused on the four
religious festivities in honor of our Patroness.
The January festivities have followed their usual path. We
met up again the evening of the January8th in the occa-
sion of the Crianzola – organized by the Commune, sitting
down together, joking, discussing and exchanging argu-
ments and ideas to accompany us throughout the eve-
ning of the 9th.
The harmonic ringing of the bells, heard throughout the
night, and the players’ mastery arouse emotions that are
are lively and excited. In recent years more and more
young people have taken part in this “Ringing of the
Night.” To these youths I would like to offer my encoura-
gement as well as my wish to continue to cultivate this
passion.
On the first Sunday of May the usual religious procession
of the statue and shrine of the Patroness is performed,
passing through the village’s streets and alleyways toge-
ther with the busts of the Saints kept in the Cappella Ca-
rafa.
The festivity took place on the night of July 21st with the
yearly representation of Saint Christine’s Martyrization
— carefully prepared by select members of the commit-
tee and then put together with the hard work and sacri-
fice our volunteers — the scenes of which enriched and
adorned our beautiful historical center.
One new idea that we introduced into the day on the
22nd was an evening of toys for the children, characteri-
zed by balloons made available in Piazza Nerazio Prisco
for the happiness and enjoyment of our youngest citi-
zens.
At the same time, the exhibition regarding the journal of
Saint Christine opened with launching all the historical
editions made available on the site www.comitatosanta-
cristinasepino.it and it has continued until the end of the
holiday’s week.
so far, even if the site’s visits has been and still is high, to
think back over the history of our village by reading the
editions on-line.
My sincere thank is for the people who made all this pos-
sible.
The days of July 23th and 24th have been enriched by the
communal bands of the cities of Ailano and Francavilla
Fontana leading up to the fireworks in the piazza.
